Russia makes first 3D Printer for use in space

The Russian National Space Group website released news that Russia has manufactured the first 3D Printer for use on the International Space Station.

Russia is expected to deliver the 3D Printer to orbit in June this year. The project is carried out by the Energy Rocket Aerospace Group and two universities in Tomsk.

The printer will be used to print materials. In addition, the printer can also print electrical connectors, fasteners and various tools. Project leader Kuzmenko said that the use of the printer will enable the International Space Station astronauts to carry out maintenance work on the station in a timely manner.

According to a release from the Russian National Space Group, the printer will likely become a common piece of equipment on the space station as time goes on.
