Kazakhstan’s wheat exports to Europe more than triple
International Business News – Kazakhstan’s agricultural network reports that in January-July 2022, Kazakhstan exported 183,300 tons of wheat to Europe, 2.1 times more than in the same period last year (85,700 tons), while, according to the TradeReport website, the value of Kazakhstan’s wheat exports to European countries increased 3.1 times, from $25.1 million to $77 million.
It is reported that the main buyers of Kazakh wheat in Europe are Italy (82%), Poland (6%), Latvia and Malta (3% each). There are also small exports to Greece, UK, Switzerland and Finland.
Growth in exports of agricultural raw materials has made Kazakhstan the fourth largest supplier of wheat to Italy. In 2022, shipments to Canada and Australia fell, with Italy becoming the world’s largest pasta producer. Last year, Italy exported 2.3 million tons of pasta to the world, with an export value of 3.6 billion US dollars.
Kazakhstan exported only 65,000 tons of pasta last year, ranking 20th in the world.
