The Yangzhou section of the Lianyungang-Huai’an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang high-speed railway resumed work on February 18 as a construction site in Gaoyou started operation.
To control the novel coronavirus outbreak, the construction spot is under strict management requiring it to be sanitized twice per day. In addition, the 23 workers it currently has are asked to have separate meals, have their temperatures taken in the morning and evening, wear masks, use the disinfectant, hand soap and thermometers provided for them.
Other workers, mostly from other provinces, cannot return in a short period of time due to the epidemic outbreak, so the work currently only focuses on washing and spreading ballast, according to Zhao Ji, head of the Yangzhou section of the railway project. In the later stage, they will arrange work scientifically to catch up the lost time, Zhao said.
The Yangzhou section is making steady progress, completing more than 95 percent of track-laying on the main line as of January this year. The next step is mainly to promote the construction of stations and speed up the construction of local supporting hubs along the Baoying, Gaoyou and Yangzhou East railways.
