Nanjing City has the endorsement from China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) to establish the National Offshore Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Talents, the second such facility in Jiangsu, with the first in Suzhou City, Jiangsu media reported on Jul 6.
By now there are 20 national overseas talent offshore innovation and entrepreneurship bases that CAST has approved across the country.
Under the guidance of Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology, the project in Nanjing will be developed by Nanjing Association for Science and Technology, Nanjing’s Jiangbei New District and Jiangning Economic & Technological Development Zone.
It will be a major vehicle to pilot a new mechanism of introducing talents, supporting local development, and accelerating Nanjing’s efforts to be a city of innovation.
The Nanjing base will contribute to the city’s cooperation with overseas R&D institutions and universities, establish overseas incubators and innovation hubs, support overseas talents in offshore R&D, trade and finance, and facilitate the pre-incubation and technology transfer to boost innovation.
In addition to the two national bases, Jiangsu is also home to 10 provincial-level offshore bases, the largest in the country. At the same time, there are 20 national and 49 provincial centers in the CAST-initiated HOME Program – Help Our Motherland through Elite Intellectual Resources from Overseas.
