Huai’an opens new rail-sea intermodal transportation

Huai’an City marked the first sea-rail transportation business through Shanghai’s Luchao Port to reach international destinations on August 28.

The train carried 80 containers loaded with auto parts, kitchen furniture, artificial turf and other goods. The containers will be transported by railway to Shanghai first and then shipped to the United States, Germany, Israel and other countries.

The was a new Maritime Silk Road channel following the similar sea-rail freight transportation via Beilun Port in Ningbo City last year.

The new intermodal transportation service will be available at least twice a week from Huai’an. This can greatly help companies in central and northern Jiangsu to reach the international market.
